Life as a parent has changed…
Now, parents are involved in many school activities on top of the daily household chores. This often lead to chaos and parents usually manage their schedules with calendars in their phone or on calendars pasted on the fridge. These methods are not too effective as they still have to manually process the information received from the school, clubs and other household related activities.
Hence, nooli is created to help busy working families organise and simplify their life.
The current nooli app is focused on the consumer, to help them with running their household. In particular, the adults who “receive” notifications that need to be actioned into their Household Calendar and keep everyone in the home running to schedule.
However, nooli would like to also look for ways to help the “sender” of the notifications to households, and try to reduce the inevitable friction that is created by a high volume of emails, WhatsApp messages and Facebook Group posts coming into households.
I worked with fellow designers Yenny Stromgren, Chery Ornsangwan, Kosmo Malignaggi and Dominic Tam.
nooli needs a platform for senders to easily create, manage and distribute bulk events to busy household families.
Because this is done manually by each sender through their existing community engagement channels, the structure of content and distribution methods are inconsistent.
This is a problem because this causes frustration for both senders and receivers due to the overwhelming amount of information and work required to action event invitations.
Bulk sending
From our problem statement, we would like to solve the need to distribute bulk events to busy households. Hence we came up with the idea of having checkboxes beside each event created. In this way, one could select which event/s to be shared by adding events to the “cart” and then share them with chosen individuals/groups.
Senders could also add notes to specific events to inform the receiver of any important details.
Immediate actions
As receivers would like to take action ASAP before they forget, we have included call-to-actions in the message to send to receivers. These include RSVP and payment options (highlighted in the red box).
Dashboard
As users are overwhelmed and afraid that they would miss something, we created a dashboard that allows senders to have a bird’s eye view to see the events they have created. This is done by having a calendar that reveals the event details and responses they have gotten if they click on the date of the event. With this, it also fulfills their need to monitor whether their messages are received and read.
They could also search for the event with the search bar provided.
There is also a clear callout action to “Create New Event” in the dashboard so they can easily start creating events instantly.
